Week 35

 Dear Parents and Students,

Another busy week has drawn to a close. We had our final MAP test on Tuesday, our much anticipated Social Studies presentations were held Friday morning, and then we finished our week with a special Social Emotional Learning lesson on Friday afternoon.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We began Topic 19 this week, which focuses on transformations, congruence, and symmetry. We will continue with this topic next week, with the topic test to take place on Thursday.

Literacy Workshop

We have almost finished reading Danny the Champion of the World.  This story has posed some ethical questions to which we have had some interesting responses. Next week, we will finish the book, and then watch a film version of the story, and draw comparisons between the film and the book.

Science

We have had some extremely insightful discussions in Science this week, as we compare what we are reading in our Science books to what we have already learned throughout the year. We have been investigating the behaviours of different organisms, and establishing whether different behaviours are instinctive or learned. We have almost finished our Life Science unit, and we will review the unit next week.

Social Studies

We presented our Regions projects on Friday. Everyone has been working so hard towards this project, resulting in some very impressive presentations. Not only did everyone do a great job in researching and compiling the information for our respective regions, but we have also learned some new skills along the way, which should prove to be very useful in the future.

Other important information

As part of a special project, Grade 3 will be selling snacks and drinks to all elementary students

using a pre-order and delivery service. Order forms, including the price of each product, were sent

home earlier this week. Thank you for returning them so promptly. Grade 3 students will then

prepare and deliver orders between the 1st-5th June.

I hope everyone gets plenty of rest over the weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.

Dates to remember:

Thu May 28: Math test - Topic 19

Fri May 29: Assembly
