Week 33

Dear Parents and Students,

We have enjoyed another busy week at school, finishing it off with our field trip to the Taipei Zoo. Thank you to all parents who were able to join us; it’s always lovely to share experiences with family. Photos from the day’s activities can be found via the link at the end of this post.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We completed Topic 17 this week, and the topic test took place on Wednesday. Next week, we will begin Topic 18, which is focused on equations and inequalities. This is a shorter topic, but due to MAP testing, the topic test won’t take place until the following Monday, 18th May.

Literacy Workshop

We have almost completed our current grammar unit, with just a few more lessons to take place next week. In our final unit, we will be learning the difference between adverbs and prepositions, and how to use them in a sentence. We have also been enjoying reading one of Roald Dahl’s novels, Danny the Champion of the World. We will continue with the story next week.

Science

Our study of adaptations continued this week with a case study of the frog fish. We investigated its unique composition of behavioral and physical traits that help it to stalk and catch its prey. We compiled our findings into a journal and shared our conclusions in a class discussion. Next week, we will focus on the adaptations of different species of trees in another investigation in our Life Science unit.

Social Studies

Research and development of our Regions presentations continue, and we are on-track to present the week after next. It is great to see everyone working so well together and developing valuable skills.

Other important information

As you know, the MAP assessments will take place next week. Grade 4 MAP tests will take place on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please try to ensure that students are able to get to bed early and have plenty of sleep. Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you next week!
