Dear Parents and Students,
The changeable weather has matched our week, as we have had so many different tasks and activities. We finished a major writing assignment and began a new Social Studies project. We also enjoyed another project in Science, visited the Art Expo in the library, and finished the week with a school-wide monthly assembly to celebrate 45 years of Hsinchu International School!
In the Classroom:
Maths
We continued with Topic 17 this week, and learned how to calculate averages, and how to interpret different types of charts and graphs. The test for this topic will take place on Wednesday.
Literacy Workshop
We completed our persuasive essays this week, and enjoyed reading one another’s points of view at our publishing party on Thursday. We have also begun a new grammar unit dedicated to pronouns. Next week, we will continue with pronouns, and we will also begin reading our final novel for the year.
Science
We have continued with Life Science this week, and we have been investigating and discussing adaptations of different plants and animals, and how such adaptations help each species to survive. We undertook a mini project in which we investigated the adaptations of certain organisms, compiled our research with peers studying the same topic, and then collaborated to design and present posters to explain our research.
Social Studies
We have selected our topics for our Regions presentations, and everyone is busy researching. We will continue with our research next week, and then begin to compile our data, and start to plan our presentation formats.
Other important information
We have another busy week starting Monday, and we will finish next week with our field trip to Taipei Zoo. For parents who are able to join us, we look forward to sharing your company then. Students, I will see you all on Monday!
Dates to remember:
Wed May 6: Math test - Topic 17 Data and Graphs
Fri May 8: Field Trip
