Week 29

 Dear Parents and Students,

It was good to see everyone back from break, fully refreshed after a week’s vacation. After beginning the week with our Easter Egg hunt, we have wasted no time in getting back to work, with the main focus, of course, being the Science Fair. Thank you to all the parents who were able to visit; it was great to share the afternoon with you, and to appreciate all of the hard work from the past few months.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We continued with our study of metric units of measurement this week, with the focus being on capacity and mass. We will continue with the metric system next week, with the topic test to take place next Friday.

Literacy Workshop

We spent most of our week in Literacy planning and drafting our latest assignment: Writing an Opinion. We will continue to draft, revise, and proofread these next week, before publishing them on Wednesday.

Science

All of our attention was devoted to our Science Fair projects this week, and the quality of work is testament to all of the hard work everyone has put in over the past two months. Thank you to all parents for your constant support, and congratulations to all students for a memorable Science Fair. A link to photos of the fair can be found via the link at the bottom of this post.

Social Studies

Having completed Chapter 8 before the break, we previewed Chapter 9 this week, which is an investigation of what the American Midwest is like today. We will continue with Chapter 9 next week, and then we will review the entire unit ahead of the unit test, which will take place next Friday.
